Oak Wilt

Peter Benz Landscaping has treatments that can successfully protect your oak trees. Oak Wilt is a lethal fungus that will disable the water-conducting system in white, red and other oak species. After being infected, red oaks die within 4 to 6 weeks, while white oaks may take 1 to 6 months to die. Early detection and preventive treatments are your best options for keeping your valuable oaks healthy. We can also treat certain oak trees after they seem to have symptoms of the disease.

A specialist from Peter Benz Landscaping can accurately identify Oak Wilt symptoms and set up a customized care plan for your tree and Bucks-Montgomery property.

  1. The most noticeable symptom of Oak Wilt is the wilting of the oak tree's leaves. Browning will begin on the margin of the lead and move inward, and there will be a distinct line between dead tissue and living tissue. Leaves will normally fall before they have completely turned brown.
  2. The sapwood will streak beneath the bark as a defense mechanism from the tree that is in infected with the disease.
  3. There will be noticeable fungal spore mats on red and pin oaks, which will split the bark open and attract insects with their fruity odor.

Peter Benz Landscaping will treat your oak trees with a macro-infusion treatment of Alamo fungicide to prevent Oak Wilt. We will also isolate and remove infected oak trees if necessary to prevent further spread of the disease on your property. We will take care of all the details to protect your beautiful oak trees from the deadly effects of Oak Wilt.
